Exhibition of paintings by Valdis Buss
Art gallery “Jekabs” is hosting the exhibition of paintings by Valdis Buss.
The art gallery “Jēkabs” (Jēkaba Street 26/28) is hosting an exhibition of works by painter Valdis Bušs (1924 - 2014). Exhibited paintings were created between the 1970s and the late 1990s. The exhibition features vivid still lives, small towns and landscapes. Paintings are united by Bush's approach to depiction of a nature - although basically paintings have been made in the plenary and at the studio is just finished, Bush has not sought to portray an exact image of a nature.
"The paintings style of Valdis Bušs is bright, it is a striking figurative movement of the soul in color with great emotional and vital strength. The combined seemingly incompatible tones appeal through their special language of color, creating a pictorially dreamlike world in the vibrant , colour saturated patches of paint. Herein lies his strength." /Ilda Silis/
Valdis Bušs has learned painting at the Latvian State Academy of Art (1945-1950), where Arijs Skride and Leo Svemps was among the most important educators. However, for various reasons, the artist's diploma work has remained undefined. Bušs has participated in exhibitions since 1971, has organized solo exhibitions in Jurmala, Riga, Kekava, Ogre, Jaunkalsnava, etc. Member of the Artists' Union since 1973. He has been an active member of Jurmala Artists Group.
Exhibition of Valdis Bušs will be on the show at the art gallery “Jekabs” on working days from 11.00-18.00.
